ABOUT ME

Hi there, my name is Michael Palmer. Thankyou for coming to my web site and taking the time to learn about me and my work. I am a freelance web "creator". This essentially means I design and develop web sites for people. I can also act as a webmaster if required, keeping site content up to date, and adding modifications as and when they are needed.

I have a Masters in Computer Science from the University of Kent. I completed the course in late 2004., having successfully passed with honours. I also won an outstanding achievement award for my course dissertation - you can find details of this in my portfolio section. I was already interested in computers and web design prior to starting the course and as a result I had taught myself a number computing skills - site development, programming, image manipulation and animation . However these skills were "raw" and undeveloped in a number of ways - they needed honing. By completing the Masters Degree I was able to raise my skillset up to a highly competent and professional level. So, having successfully completed my masters course, I could have expected to get a good job in the industry. Unfortunately to get a good job a potential employee needs industry experience but to get the experience the employee needs to get a job!! A chicken-and-egg in a catch 22 situation. To solve this dilemma I decided to develop my own industry experience and become a freelance web developer. It was only meant to be a short-term solution but it has been so enjoyable and successful that I have not looked back since.

My work includes a range of different sites from those that just offer simple company information, to flash sites offering animated presentations, to full e-commerce sites. You can find out more about my work by flicking through the portfolio booklet on the "my work" page.

Feel free to contact me anytime if you have any questions or would like a business quote,

Regards,

Michael
